Yeah, I’m a dummy. So, what.

I admit defeat. This blogging thing is technically beyond me. I can’t get photos to upload. I can’t get buttons to upload.

But, that is about to change. It was off to Amazon.com yesterday to purchase some references. I got “Blogging for Dummies” and “The Rough Guide To Blogging”.

They should arrive tomorrow, and we shall see if I can fix my problem.

ARRRRRRRRHhhhhhh!

It’s not for knitting, but…

I think every knitter has something made for some use other than knitting that they cannot get along without when they are knitting. For me, it is yellow legal pads. They are my project logs. I keep track of my rows, changes I have made to patterns (I hate writing in books, unless I have found errors), even starting dates and days worked on them.

They end up being little journals of my life, with phone numbers jotted down on them, doodles made while chatting on the phone, notes to myself about other things that I think of while knitting, yet I cannot wait to toss the page when I am done with the project. I think that is because, when I HAVE saved them, I look at them years later and think, “What does “firstand to Molly’s 435-2543″ mean? “I don’t know any Molly, do I?”, “And, what the hell is a firstand? Did she ever get it?  Do I dare call that number to find out? What area code is that? I lived in two different states when I worked on that piece, and one of them switched area codes on me.”

But, I digress. I would love to know what non-knitting item anyone else cannot get along without in their knitting life. Post a comment, no matter how silly.

And, Molly, if you never got the firstand, I am sorry, but I don’t have it anymore.

Oh, and your singing was ok, too.

The other night I got dh to take me to a coffeehouse the local synagogue was having. The musicians, a man and woman, played and sang a kind of jazz/folk that was pretty interesting. After intermission, the woman walked back up the aisle to the stage, and my husband could not take his eyes off her. I had to laugh. Any other man I would have suspected of having the hots for her, but I knew my my boy well. He was crazy for the shawl/sweater she had put on backstage! Ah, a true knitter’s husband.

Truth to tell, I found it fascinating, too. It was a rectangular lace shawl with long bell sleeves set in it. I couldn’t figure out how it was made. Was it steeked? God, I hoped not! I could tell it was machine made, but I was desperate to make one like it.

After the concert, I joined the little group of people waiting to talk to her. They all wanted to tell her how much they loved her singing, and her musical style. When it was my turn, the first thing out of my mouth was, “Can I see your shawl?” Then, I realized how dumb that sounded, so I told her I was a knitter.

Fortunately, it turned out, so was she, but she has never attempted anything as difficult as lace. Even looking at it up close, I am not sure I have the skill to reproduce it.

I have spent two days online looking for something like it, but have had no luck.

Someday, though, I am going to find something like it, or I am going to get brave, and, I don’t know, stick some sleeves smack dab in an Orenburg Lace shawl or something, and then I will have something to show people!

Send Lawyers, Guns and Aardvarks

OMG! We have termites! Only four and a half months in this house, and there is a termite swarm in my husband’s computer room. ICK! ICK! ICK!

The former owners claim to have had an inspection done, so either they are liars or these guys are new and only in a little part of a wall by the front patio.

We have two pest control companies coming tomorrow to do an inspection and give us estimates. We will find out if we need to sue someone. I hate lawsuits. And, I married a lawyer, too.

On the knitting scene, it is pink, green and yellow for Project Spectrum for April and May. If I stick with Knit from your stash, I will run out of things to do. I have some green, and a bit of yellow, unless you count “sweet potato”. If so, I can start a shawl from “Victorian Lace Today”.

Boy, I sure hope we don’t have a new species of termite that eats yarn.

Say hello to Compy2

Dell was really fast! The computer we ordered on Thursday morning arrived at my husband’s office on Friday afternoon! Regular shipping, too. I think living in Texas helps.

This morning, my husband went to the CompUSA going out of business sale, and got me a pci wireless card for cheap, which I installed myself (pats self on back), so I am back!

Lady Tricotine gave me some help in getting buttons to be visible on my blog. I am going to try her method as soon as I am caught up on my email. Then I will install my camera software to Compy2, and see if I can get pictures here!
