SP 10

OUCH!  Last night I posted something about how I hadn’t gotten a package from my Secret Pal, and how miffed I was at her and our hostess.

I apologize to both of them. Turns out, my Secret Pal had tried to send things to the wrong address, and got it back twice. We straightened that out.

Our hostess emailed me, and told me she had her in her groups before, and never had any complaints about her, so we blame miscommunication.

I have learned it is ok to say to your secret pal, “You remember that package you said you were going to mail me? I never got it.”, instead of sitting home and feeling unloved.

If you are looking for that particular post, I removed it, as I promised our hostess I would.

So, as things stand, I most certainly WILL be participating in SP11!

Good news!

My husband’s surgery revealed no sign of a tumor. It looks like he had a stroke, for reasons unknown, in an area of the brain he does not utilize. Thank God. He stayed in the hospital for three nights, and returned to our tender care today.

I will post more in a day or two. I think we are going to take some long, long naps today.

Joining the Circle

It is funny how doing one thing leads to thoughts and memories of another. Today, as I was joining the cast on stitches of what I hope will be just a circular knit alpaca hat for Philip, and not a chemo cap, I remembered a roundknit skirt I made for Sally with a matching cardigan when she was two years old. She wore it to church on Easter Sunday in Kalamazoo, where we were visiting family. It was very cold outside, but HOT inside the church, and she kept taking the whole thing off, stripping down to her undershirt and diaper, as was her way in those days.

I ran into a woman I used to work with there. She mentioned something about another woman from the same workplace, having taken her kids to Disney World because one of her kids got a trip from Make A Wish. A couple of years later, I heard that this couple divorced. I gathered their marriage couldn’t stand the strain of coping with a seriously ill child.

I have always been aware, and thanked God that Philip never gave up on me or our marriage, all the years we were struggling to understand what was wrong with John, and trying to raise him. Maybe it helped that he was somewhat in denial about it. I don’t know. It is hard to admit that your only son can be autistic, especially when he can act so normal so much of the time.

It seems so unfair that we may finally have gotten John raised and self suficient, and now I may lose Philip.  I mean, almost exactly at the same time. Like, ok, that is done. Now, your husband can get cancer. Go knit him a chemo cap.

The circle, again. Morbid thoughts. Two days to surgery. I keep thinking. Do we just have two days of normalcy?

Keep knitting. The only constant. Knit in circles.

Still…

I am not really into contemporary Christian music, but the piece I put on my Songspot today, “Still”, by 1000 Generations says it all.

Thanks to all of you for your prayers. God has a plan. We go with it.

Seven Random Things

Finally, I am ready to do the seven random things you might not know about me meme, although as person interested in science, I am not really crazy about the term “meme” used in in this instance. Oh, well, too late to turn back the hands of time.

For those who don’t know, A blogging friend, in my case, Lady Tricotine, Isabelle, tagged me. I am supposed to list the seven things, and tag 7, or is it 8 other bloggers. That part may take a while. I think I only know people she knows! I will work on it.

Here goes:

1. I missed out on two chances to be in the movie “The Giant Spider Invasion” in the 1970’s.

2.The town I grew up in, Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, has both black and white squirrels. The white ones are really more cream colored than white.

3. I have epilepsy, but thanks to good medication, have been seizure free since 1993.

4.I sometimes roast my own coffee.

5.I wanted to be an astronaut when I grew up, but I majored in theatre. (Is that two things?)

6.I don’t like wearing shoes. I don’t like buying shoes.

7.I owned a Norwegian Fjord pony for one week.
